The Roots — Our Inspiration
Every tree grows from a need it first noticed on the ground.
The inspiration behind the Buti Malinga Foundation comes from a deep desire to serve people, restore hope and make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and communities.
The Foundation was inspired by Buti Malinga’s fellowship at AFM Jubilee Centre in Sharpeville, under the leadership of Dr. T.R. and Mrs. Mofokeng. The church’s commitment to caring for the whole person—physically, spiritually, educationally and developmentally—shaped Buti’s understanding that true community transformation requires more than addressing one need at a time.
The Foundation’s inspiration is also rooted in compassion and action. Buti could not ignore the needs he saw around him. What began as a personal desire to help people in Vaaloewer, by providing clothing, sanitary products, soup and bread, revealed a much greater need within the community.
This experience inspired a bigger vision: to move beyond giving temporary relief and to create opportunities that can bring lasting change.
Five principles guide everything we do:
01.
Compassion
Seeing people’s needs and responding with love and care.
02.
Dignity
Treating every person with respect, regardless of circumstance.
03.
Hope
Reminding people their present does not define their future.
04.
Empowerment
Building the skills, knowledge and confidence to improve lives.
05.
Community Transformation
Working together toward stronger, self-sufficient communities.
